While speaking to students at Boston’s Berklee College of Music, John Mayer explained why he stopped using Twitter. The guitarist said that it hampered his creativity as a musician.
“I realized about a year ago that I couldn’t have a complete thought anymore, and I was a tweetaholic,” Mayer said, according to Rolling Stone. “I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”
Mayer has taken a technology-averse stance when recording his new album.
“Here are the rules for recording this record: No drum machines, no loops, no keyboards to start out with, no excuses, no breaks, no laptops, no nothing,” he said. “If you take a break, ...

I am discovering that there is a large group of people that love music but are not aware that they are not getting the best experience with it. The younger the listener, the more likely they are to be in this group. Here at the radio station is a group of younger people that love music and seek me out to talk about it. One thing I can’t help but notice is that they are unaware or untrained in the basics of high audio quality.
The reason for this is easily traced. Most of their listening is done on portable devices using headphones or earbuds.
I have been using headphones practically every day of my life for more than 40 years. I have used heavy expensive “cans”, cheap lightweight earbuds, and everything in between. I have listened through very sophisticated professional systems and I have listened through cheap systems. ...
Rolling Stones "Crossfire Hurricane" Documentary

The Rolling Stones' have released the trailer for their upcoming HBO documentary, Crossfire Hurricane. The 50th anniversary retrospective takes its title from a classic lyric from 1968's "Jumpin' Jack Flash," and will premiere on November 15th

Beatles Remasters On Vinyl!

After seeing release digitally and on CD, the Beatles' original studio album remasters will finally be pressed to wax, with vinyl versions slated for release on November 13th in North America.
All 14 albums – the 12 U.K. originals, the U.S.-originated Magical Mystery Tour and the B-sides and rarities collection Past Masters Volumes One & Two – will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl, and will include original features like the Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club Band cutouts and a reproduction of the poster that accompanied "The White Album."
While each record will be available individually, a limited-edition box set (only 50,000 copies worldwide) will be available, which includes every album, plus a new hardbound book authored by radio producer Kevin Howlett.
