Air Personality
Ron started his radio career on the great plains of Kansas at KWBB/AM,
Wichita, one of the nation's first AM Top-40 radio stations.
He then went to KBTR/AM Denver, and in the late `60's to WPTR/AM, a 50,000
watt contemporary hit radio (CHR) station in Albany, New York. His final
AM CHR air position was at WOKY in Milwaukee.
Ron got into programming in 1973 at WGCL/FM, Cleveland and moved to program/music
director at WMET/FM, Chicago's first FM CHR station. After leaving WMET,
he was briefly interim General Manager at WGCI/FM, Chicago, which he and
Frankie Crocker changed from beautiful music to urban.
Other program/music director stints include: Country-formatted WCOP AM/FM,
Boston; Adult Contemporary WJAR/AM, Providence; KLLS/FM, a CHR station in
San Antonio; A. C. KPEN/FM, San Jose; Country KGEM/AM-KJOT/FM, Boise, Idaho;
and operations manager of Oldies/Country combo WCVS/AM-WFMB/FM, Springfield,
Illinois.
In 1985, Ron decided to return to St. Louis, his hometown and discontinue
moving around the country. In St. Louis, he spent five years at Sunny 101/
The Fox as well as weekend stints at KHITS FM, WRTH/AM, WKKX/FM, and KEZK/FM.
His hobbies are playing backgammon and watching sports.
