RANDOM RICK-NESS

I wanted to watch the Patriots/Bears game yesterday but the network channel gave us the Chiefs instead. Certainly the technology exists to allow a ‘vote’ as to which game will be televised. How about this. Each remote control device will be pre-programmed by your cable or satellite provider to allow for 1 vote. The t-v screen lists the games available for any given time period. You scroll to the game you want televised and ‘vote’ (like video on demand) and whichever game gets the most ‘votes’ in your area (region) is shown.

MORNING MUSINGS

Morning Show Musings for Monday, December 13th

Who's the top touring act, according to Billboard? Bon Jovi! ...for the second time in three years!... U2 was second, with AC/DC at #3. James Taylor and Carole King were 6th, The Eagles were 7th, Metallica came in at #8, and Sir Paul was 10th.

Billboard reports that Bon Jovi grossed $146,507,388, with a total attendance of 1,591,154 and 69 sellouts between November of 2009 and November of 2010. Rick and John don't understand this at all, but then, they're boys.

Bon Jovi is planning a hiatus after their 2011 tour dates, but Jon Bon Jovi reassures fans he's not retiring. The 48-year-old says, quote, "...for an old man who has no plastic surgery, still has all his own hair and wears a 30-inch waist, I'm doing okay." ...THAT'S why Bon Jovi came in at #1. Click HERE

Well, the Rams were 9-point underdogs vs. New Orleans, but being only 9-points behind seems WONDERFUL compared to what happened yesterday. St. Louis lost 31-13 to the Saints, thanks to fumbles, turnovers, basically getting spanked. But rookie QB Sam Bradford showed a lot of fight when he ran down Saints safety Roman Harper. And THEN, Bradford ran the ball in for a touchdown himself. It was a thing of beauty: Click HERE

Do you watch video of buildings being torn down? Do you love sports? Are you a fan of winter weather? Well, then here's everything you want in one video: the Metrodome collapse early yesterday morning after a blizzard left Minneapolis under 17 inches of snow:

But that game cancellation because of the Metrodome roof collapse wasn't the only tough experience for the Giants this weekend. It took nearly 30 hours for the team to get from New Jersey to Detroit, where they're expected to play against the Vikings tonight. The Giants spent most of Saturday hanging out in the airport in Kansas City, which is where their flight to Minneapolis actually landed when the weather got bad.

Brendan Ryan finally knows where he'll be hanging out next summer: Seattle. Ryan was traded to the Mariners yesterday in exchange for pitcher Maikel Cleto (pronounced CLAY-tow), a hard-throwing right-hander from the Dominican Republic who was obtained by the Mariners from the Mets as part of a three-team, 12-player deal on Dec. 11, 2008.

Ryan might play second base for the Mariners, or he could provide depth or competition at shortstop. Click HERE

Yes, Sir Paul has been a busy boy...

While appearing on Jimmy Fallon's show on Friday, Paul McCartney and Fallon took part in a hysterical duet of the Beatles' classic "Yesterday" while spoofing the song's original working title -- "Scrambled Eggs" -- with a performance of the faux "original" lyrics. Click HERE

And during his Saturday Night Live appearance, McCartney popped up during host Paul Rudd's opening monologue, appeared on "Weekend Update" in a brief sketch poking fun at Prince Charles and wife Camilla Parker Bowles and appeared in Andy Samburg's latest "SNL Digital Short" in which he sang an over-the-top re-written version of Berlin's "Take My Breath Away" from Top Gun, along with performing a bizarre miniature harmonica solo while dressed as a cowboy. McCartney and his band performed four numbers, including a rousing closing chorus of Lennon's 1969 global peace anthem "Give Peace a Chance." And, if that's not enough for ya, McCartney played "Get Back" over the show's end credits. Click HERE

McCartney performs at Harlem's Apollo Theatre for the first time tonight. Whew!

Okay, I understand that the desire to win is strong. I also understand that the New York Jets tend to be, um, boisterous. And I understand that things haven't been going well for them lately. But, come on!! Jets strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi used his knee to trip an opposing player. Classless, dude.

Say it ain't so, Miley! Miss Cyrus was caught on video taking a bong hit. But the drug she smoked is NOT illegal, at least not yet. The video was allegedly shot during a party at Miley's home in November, just days after she turned 18. After taking the hit, the video shows Miley saying, quote, "Okay, I'm about to lose it now. I'm having a little bit of a bad trip right now." Yikes. The drug she was smoking is an herb with psychedelic properties called Salvia, and it's legal in California. A DEA spokesperson said "It's a powerful hallucinogen, and it helps you have visions. People smoke it solely to get high and hallucinate."

When Miley's not smoking, she's busy filming a movie called "So Undercover" in New Orleans with Kelly Osbourne. And, in fact, Miley was at the Saints' trouncing of our poor Rams yesterday. She even met Saints coach Sean Payton. Too bad that game wasn't a hallucination.

**Warning. This link will send you to TMZ, and it will show Miley using a bong. Don't click HERE if you don't wanna go there or see that:

A Yale University librarian has chosen what he feels are the most notable quotations of 2010. Who do you think made the list? Enjoy some words of wisdom from an athlete, a non-witch, a bunch of politicians and one guy unhappy with the TSA:
