NEW RUSH SONGS 'IN-YOUR-FACE GUITAR STUFF'

5/10/2010

Rush has been working on its first new material since 2007's Snakes & Arrows album and guitarist Alex Lifeson told Gibson.com that the songs are very guitar-heavy, saying, "Oh yeah, it's in-your-face guitar stuff. It's awesome, great. In fact, I'm really pleased with the way it's turned out. Everybody's playing really well. There's great energy and there's great rhythmic funk-ability going on there and some really cool stuff and I am really, really pleased with it."

The band plans on releasing two new songs before heading out on its summer tour, which begins on June 29th in Albuquerque, New Mexico and finishes on October 2nd in West Palm Beach, Florida.

The trek will feature the band's first-ever performance of its classic 1981 album Moving Pictures in its entirety. When asked why this album remains a highlight of the band's extensive catalog, Lifeson replied, "There was great positive energy in the studio when we made Moving Pictures. The songs, I think, are among our strongest songs. There's great variety and character in the songs."

Rush will return to the studio after the tour to continue working on its next album, although a release date is uncertain.
