9/4/2009

Michael Jackson was finally laid to rest Thursday evening (September 4th) at a private funeral service at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California. The event was attended by Liz Taylor, Macaulay Culkin, Barry Bonds, Chris Tucker, Al Sharpton, Lisa Marie Presley, and many others.

Debbie Rowe, the mother of two of Jackson's children, was reportedly invited but did not show up.

Michael's parents Joe and Katherine, sisters LaToya, Janet and Rebbie, and brothers Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Randy were all in attendance, as were his children Prince, Paris, and Blanket.

Presley, who was married to Jackson from 1993 to 1995, was visibly emotional when the casket was brought in.

Grammy winning singer Gladys Knight reportedly sang "The Lord's Prayer" at the memorial. Sharpton and Presley also spoke at the private service.

A camera feed was provided to the media to show the arrivals of guests and family, however the service itself was not televised.

Guests moved into the mausoleum for the interment after the outdoor service. Jackson was laid to rest inside the Great Mausoleum in Holly Terrace, a section of the memorial park that is the final resting place for a number of Hollywood stars.

Jackson passed away on June 25th at his rented home in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles from cardiac arrest. After a lengthy investigation, the L.A. County Coroner ruled that Jackson's death was a homicide, resulting from an overdose of prescription drugs, including the sedative propofol.
